Pedro Halffter, director of “The Barber of Seville” in Montreal this October
The first work of a comic trilogy (Beaumarchais) that shocked the elite of the 18th century is the basis of Rossini’s masterpiece, The Barber of Seville. Packed with action and packed with unforgettable melodies, this opera is sure to make you burst out laughing. With the whimsical approach of stage director Joan Font and the Spanish company Els Comediants, this production cleverly incorporates some circus arts, acrobatics and pantomime. For the occasion, the Metropolitan Orchestra will once again have the Spanish conductor Pedro Halffter, who spoke with the OM in Madama Butterfly in 2023.The appointment will be on October 1 and 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 6 at 2 p.m.
